The "earth" without "art" is just "eh."

I grew up in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, but moved Phoenix, Arizona back in 2005. As a graduate of ASU, I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2007 & Master of Education in 2010. Currently, I'm balancing my time as full-time art teacher and freelance artist.
Since college, my style has evolved from objective, two-dimensional pieces, to subjective, three-dimensional works. My recent art takes on a more functional approach - painting on glass is my primary focus right now. I enjoy not only painting on glasses, but collaging various materials with the paint .
I've been described by other artists as 'multifaceted' - combining spontaneous gestures with fine detail. My work typically reproduces familiar visual signs, arranging them into new conceptually layered pieces. The subject matter of each body of work determines the materials and the forms. My abstract and representational works are based on strong compositions, values and color.
I draw influence from a lot of things, although nature is one of the most common themes in my work. Nature provides a visual history; sensuous forms, life and death in a constant evolution of imagery tangled up in time. Nature continues to fascinate and intrigue me. I create art in hopes that it can speak for itself and whatever it says to the viewer - there is no right or wrong message. Each person takes something a little different from the same picture and I'm happy with that.
